The HealthEngine Story

HealthEngine was started in early 2007 by 3 Australian Emergency Physicians.

The idea for a comprehensive, free online directory of General Practitioners and Specialists throughout Australia arose out of a real need: the need to find Doctors. A need to find the RIGHT Specialist.

Constantly fielding requests from colleagues, and patients, for help to find the right GP, or the right Specialist, these Emergency Doctors were increasingly aware of the poor availability and poor quality of information out there.

They decided to produce an online resource to make their working lives easier, while hopefully allowing the public to make informed choices, and smooth the rocky road that is the unfortunate experience of a person becoming a patient.
